Over 38 years of teaching experience in Australia.
The teaching programs and methods are focused on playing techniques to ensure students reach the optimum performance levels without physical injuries.
Teach Piano Performance levels to University and International Piano Competition levels.
Teaching Music Theory from Australian Music Examinations Board grade 1 to grade 6.

Qualifications - Accredited WAMTA Teacher

1981, Bachelor of Music Degree (majoring in piano performance) from the Shanghai Music Conservatorium. I was a pupil of Professor Ming-Qiang Li, who was the ENESCU International Piano Competition, First Prize Winner. He was also the Adjudicator for the Sydney International Piano Competition in 1981, 1988, and 1992.

1983, Awarded the Vose Memorial Prize for Music from the University of Western Australia.

1985, Bachelor of Music Degree with 2A Honours, Majoring in Piano Performance at The University of Western Australia.

2008, Master of Science Degree (at The School of Human Movement and Exercise Science) at the University of Western Australia. The Thesis Title is ‘Investigating the Prevalence of Playing-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders in Relation to Piano Players’ Playing Techniques and Practising Strategies’.

Approach

Starting with 4-year-olds or older, I teach students high standards from the first lesson. In particular, professional standards of physical techniques.
These professional standards allow students to progress on to the AMEB (Australian Music Examination Board) exams without a bridging course.
This approach allows students to enjoy playing piano on the first day and also pursue their musical interest throughout their lives, without physical injury.
